I think that all families have a little bit of both, functional and dysfunctional, in them. There is no such thing as a perfect family. When you look at families that the parents have really good jobs, you see them with have materialistic things in their life. But what you might not see is that the parents might always be working. When they get home from work they either continue to work or they are too exhausted from their long day, that they don’t really want to participate in any family time. Then you see the parents that have jobs but don’t get paid as much, they can’t give their kids the luxury life but they can spend more time with them. Then you have some families that are like the ones in the book we are reading. They never stay in one place long enough and they don’t really know how a family functions without moving or having parents who can’t keep a job.
