I am finally going back to college after taking 4 years off! I am very excited I am here but the road I had to take was extremely complicated! I graduated from high school in 2005 and thought I knew exactly what I wanted to go to school for. I started with Medical Transcriptions switched to Medical Secretary and ended up finishing with my Accounting Clerk Diploma. It took me over 3 years to get a diploma! When I was accepted to RCTC I applied for financial aid. After looking at everything I decided not to go with financial aid. Since I switched my major to many times, I was put on financial aid suspension. A couple years after I received my diploma I wanted to go back to school but I needed financial aid. Since I was on suspension, I had to go through so many loops. I talked to an academic advisor and they told me I would have to appeal my suspension but they didn’t give me all of the details. Needless to say, my appeal was denied the first time I tried. That made me lose all hope about going back to college and finishing 10 classes. A couple years after that I wanted to try again. I found out the steps I needed to take in order to get my suspension appealed. I summited my financial aid application to find out I needed to reapply to go back to RCTC and they did not have my final high school transcript. After reapply and contacting my high school I still had to meet with an academic advisor and have an academic plan put in place. That is when I found out I had to retake the placement exams because it had been to many years. After passing those tests, I was finally able to submit everything to the financial aid office. After waiting for about 3 weeks and school was about to start, I was finally approved!
I had to go through a lot to get here but every step of the way was worth it! I am happy to finally be on the path towards a successful career!
I understand everything you went through. However, stay focus. Because at the end of the tunnel it can only lead you too success.
